NEW: NSSD - Wayside Rest Improvement Plan - 2015 Update
Recently, NSSD has updated their existing Wayside Rest Improvement Plan document, to reflect changes, implemented projects, and planning processes completed since it's completion in 2013. The document includes updates throughout showcasing the results of planning processes and completed projects along the Highway 61 All-American Road Scenic Byway Corridor.

This project was funded in part under the Coastal Zone Management Act, by NOAA’s Office of Ocean and Coastal Resource Management, in cooperation with Minnesota’s Lake Superior Coastal Program. Additional funding was provided by the Iron Range Resources and Rehabilitation Board.

NORTH SHORE SCENIC DRIVE - ADA ACCESSIBILITY OF WAYSIDES PROJECT REPORT
Visitors of all ages and physical abilities enjoy taking their time as they travel the North Shore Scenic Drive (Trunk Highway 61). To enhance the traveler’s experience, there are a total of 68 public wayside pull-off areas located along the route to allow people to stop and safely enjoy the breathtaking views at their own pace.

In an effort to improve the experience of these wayside pull-offs for visitors of all abilities, the North Shore Scenic Drive Council worked with the Arrowhead Regional Development Commission during 2012 to evaluate 16 of the most visited public wayside pull-off areas along the North Shore Scenic Drive for accessibility improvements.
